Key Qualifications:

• Previous experience as a school paraprofessional or direct support professional preferred
• Comfort working 1:1 with students who are autistic and nonverbal
• Ability to respond calmly and proactively to behavioral needs
• Male candidates are encouraged due to the students preferences and successful prior supports
• Strong communication skills and a team player approach
• Physical ability to walk and be active throughout the school day

Primary Responsibilities:

• Provide 1:1 support, closely supervising and assisting the student from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm daily, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch
• Support the students participation in classroom routines and academic activities
• Assist with sensory and movement breaks, including walks as needed
• Maintain a calm and engaging environment, addressing attention-seeking behaviors constructively
• Collaborate with educators and specialists to implement the students individualized education program (IEP)
• Communicate regularly and clearly with school staff regarding progress and needs
