Job Description
Seeking skilled paraprofessionals to support special education classrooms in a large Missouri school district. This contract, per diem opportunity offers flexible scheduling, allowing you to work 1 to 5 days per week covering call outs across multiple schools. Assignments focus on assisting students with behavioral needs, often in 1:1 or classroom aide roles.
Location: Kansas City, MO area
Schedule: Variable, based on assigned school level
- Middle School: 7:00 AM 2:30 PM
- High School: 7:30 AM 3:00 PM
- Elementary: 8:30 AM 4:00 PM or 9:00 AM 4:30 PM
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct support to students in special education classrooms, including implementing behavior intervention plans (BIPs)
- Assist with toileting and other personal care as needed
- Adapt support based on individual student needs, whether in one-on-one or group settings
- Respond promptly to shift call outs through a designated app platform
- Maintain a professional and patient demeanor in fast-paced educational environments
Qualifications:
- Active Substitute or Paraprofessional certification from the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) prior to start
- Experience working in schools supporting students with behavioral challenges
- Must complete fingerprint clearance specific to this school district
- Reliable access to smartphone to use the shift management app
- Ability to work flexible hours and locations based on daily call outs
