Job Description

Seeking a dedicated paraprofessional to provide flexible, supportive assistance within special education classrooms across a large Missouri school district. This contract role offers a guaranteed 30 hours per week, ideal for individuals interested in consistent work while covering a variety of school assignments in multiple elementary, middle, and high schools.

Location: Kansas City, Missouri (serving 33 district schools)

Responsibilities include:

  • Delivering one-on-one support or classroom aid in special education settings
  • Assisting students with behavioral needs, implementing behavior intervention plans (BIPs), and managing challenging behaviors professionally
  • Providing personal care assistance, including toileting support when necessary
  • Adapting to varied classroom environments throughout the district based on daily assignment needs
  • Utilizing the Spindle app to receive and pick up substitute paraprofessional shifts with real-time updates on location and schedule

Required qualifications and experience:

  • Active Substitute Paraprofessional certification from DESE
  • Previous experience working in schools, specifically supporting students with behavioral challenges
  • Willingness and comfort in assisting with toileting and physical support tasks
  • Ability to navigate and respond promptly to shift assignments via a mobile app system
  • Completion of fingerprinting as required by the district

Typical shift hours range by school level:

  • Middle School: 7:00 a.m. 2:30 p.m.
  • High School: 7:30 a.m. 3:00 p.m.
  • Elementary: Between 8:30 a.m. 4:30 p.m.
