Job Description

This opportunity is for paraprofessionals within a school environment located in Kansas City, MO, available on a contract basis from early April through late May. Ideal candidates will possess experience supporting students with behavioral challenges in educational settings and be comfortable working with physical aggression and toileting assistance as needed.

Responsibilities include:

  • Providing 1:1 support to a third grader with emotional disturbance, implementing behavior intervention plans, and utilizing de-escalation techniques, preferably with CPI/MandT training or similar experience.
  • Assisting in a high needs classroom during a colleagues medical leave, with flexibility to transition to other classrooms or sites once the original staff member returns.
  • Collaborating with special education staff to support student behavior and learning within the districts guidelines.
  • Maintaining a safe and supportive classroom environment.

Qualifications and desired skills:

  • Active paraprofessional certification or substitute certification as recognized by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE).
  • Experience working with students displaying challenging behaviors, including emotional disturbance and physical aggression.
  • CPI/MandT training or comparable crisis intervention experience is highly preferred.
  • Willingness to assist with toileting and other personal care needs.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing classroom assignments.
  • Ability to complete district-required fingerprint clearance and pass a drug screening promptly upon hiring.

Location: Positions available in Kansas City, Missouri, specifically at two sites with assigned hours in the morning to mid-afternoon.
