Job Description

This opportunity is for experienced paraprofessionals skilled in behavior support to provide one-on-one assistance within a K-12 educational setting in Kansas City, MO. The role involves working full-time with elementary students exhibiting behavioral challenges, with a strong emphasis on comfort and competency in managing behaviors and toileting assistance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver individualized support to students at Oakwood Manor and Gracemor Elementary Schools.
  • Implement behavior management strategies in accordance with the students educational plans.
  • Assist with toileting and other personal care needs as required.
  • Collaborate with special education staff to create a positive and productive learning environment.
  • Maintain open communication with the school team regarding student progress and needs.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Active paraprofessional certification or current DESE para status preferred.
  • Experience working with children displaying challenging behaviors, ideally within a school or similar setting.
  • Ability to provide personalized support and handle toileting assistance confidently.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to maintain professionalism in a school environment.
  • Availability to complete required background checks and drug screening promptly.
  • Willingness to participate in virtual interviews and prescreening calls.

Position Details:

  • Location: Kansas City, MO (Elementary Schools)
  • Term: Contract through the current school year, starting ASAP until May 28th.
  • Hours: Full-time, Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
  • Number of openings: 2

The selection process includes a brief phone prescreen and a Zoom interview with the districts special education director, scheduled on specific dates.
