This contract opportunity near Kansas City, KS offers hands-on involvement in special education or general classroom settings, where youll help facilitate a positive learning experience for all. You'll partner with teachers and licensed staff to assist with lesson plans, classroom management, and individualized student needs.
Ideal background and experience:
- Previous paraprofessional, classroom assistant, or similar school-based support experience preferred
- Demonstrated ability to engage respectfully with students from diverse backgrounds
- Proficiency in providing instructional and/or behavioral support under teacher direction
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Patience, empathy, and adaptability in responding to classroom dynamics
- Knowledge of special education best practices is a plus
- High school diploma or equivalent required; some college or related certifications advantageous
Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Delivering instructional support to small groups or individual students
- Assisting teachers with implementing lesson plans and accommodating various learning styles
- Helping manage classroom behavior and maintain a positive, inclusive environment
- Supervising students during transitions, activities, or breaks
- Supporting students with individualized learning or behavioral plans
- Aiding with record-keeping and basic administrative tasks as needed
- Collaborating with staff to ensure students academic and social needs are met
