Discover a rewarding contract opportunity as an Orthopedic Impairment Assistant, supporting students and professionals in a vibrant educational setting near Indio, CA. As an itinerant Instructional Assistant, youll collaborate closely with an OI Specialist, fostering student independence and ensuring safe use of adaptive equipment. Your expertise will directly impact students with orthopedic impairments, enhancing their educational experience throughout the 20252026 school year.
Key Qualifications:
- CPI Certification is required
- Experience or formal training in Assistive Technology and Mobility Devices
- CNA/Medical background preferred
- Previous experience within California schools preferred
- Strong administrative skills enhance your effectiveness
- Fluency in Spanish is required
Primary Responsibilities:
- Work under the guidance of an Orthopedic Impairment Specialist to monitor and assist students using walkers, wheelchairs, and other adaptive equipment
- Support the delivery of mobility device training for students and staff
- Ensure proper and safe use of assistive technology throughout the school day
- Document equipment use, observations, and support student progress notes
- Travel between sites as needed to provide services and collaborate with team members
- Demonstrate sensitivity in assisting students with mobility needs and daily tasks
