Make a meaningful impact as an Instructional Assistant supporting medically fragile students in a dedicated special education environment. This contract position offers the opportunity to provide essential support to students aged K21 with severe disabilities in a collaborative setting committed to student care and achievement.
As an integral member of the educational team, youll assist teachers and specialists, facilitate student engagement, and contribute to the safety and well-being of children with complex medical and behavioral needs. Your compassion and skills will foster an inclusive, encouraging classroom experience for every learner.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Direct experience working with students with severe disabilities and medically fragile conditions
- Familiarity with individualized behavior plans, willingness to implement and document interventions
- Comfort providing physical assistance and personal care when needed
- Prior experience in special education or healthcare settings highly valued
- Knowledge or experience with adaptive equipment (e.g., Hoyer lift) is a plus, but not required
- Strong communication, patience, and teamwork are essential
Key Responsibilities:
- Support instruction and care for students with diverse and intensive needs ages K21
- Assist with mobility, positioning, and use of adaptive equipment as directed
- Follow individualized behavior and care plans to ensure safety and engagement
- Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and nursing staff to address daily academic and health goals
- Maintain a positive, supportive classroom environment
