Step into a rewarding contract opportunity supporting exceptional students near Independence, MO! Passionate paraprofessionals are sought to provide 1:1 assistance for two dedicated learnersa 4th grade and an 11th grade student, both medically fragile. Your compassionate care will make a meaningful difference each day, fostering independence and engagement in their school experience.
Youll receive in-depth support and training if needed, especially in using a Hoyer lift, as the school is committed to equipping you for success. Comfort with toileting and diapering is important, along with the flexibility to help manage behaviors for the older student. Your patience, empathy, and positive attitude are the heart of this valuable role.
Desired Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a paraprofessional capacity, especially within school settings
- Comfort with personal care tasks, including toileting, diapering, and mobility support
- Willingness to learn new skills; in-house training for Hoyer lift provided if necessary
- Calm, supportive approach to assist students displaying challenging behaviors
- Strong communication skills to collaborate with teachers, therapists, and families
- High level of reliability and professionalism
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide consistent 1:1 support throughout the school day, ensuring student safety and dignity
- Assist with medical, physical, behavioral, and academic needs as directed in each students plan
- Participate in team meetings each Tuesday morning at 8:00 a.m.
- Encourage participation and independence in classroom and school activities
Campus hours are 8:45 a.m.-4:15 p.m.enjoy a balanced schedule while making a lasting impact in students lives.
