We are seeking committed and adaptable paraprofessionals to support K-12 classrooms across multiple schools in North Kansas City, Missouri, for a contract assignment. This role offers a great chance to work in diverse educational settings, including elementary, middle, and high school SPED classrooms, either in 1:1 or general support capacities.
Your flexibility is highly valuedopenings are available throughout the district and schedules vary by school level:
- Middle School: 7:00 AM 2:30 PM
- High School: 7:30 AM 3:00 PM
- Elementary School: 8:30 AM 4:00 PM or 9:00 AM 4:30 PM
Start dates will align with end-of-school-year and extended school year needs, as well as the start of the new school year in August.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Active Substitute Certificate (SUB CERT) listed on the DESE website
- Experience as a paraprofessional in school settings strongly preferred
- Comfort supporting students with various needs, including toileting, changing, and behavior management
- Willingness to float between schools and classrooms as district requirements shift
- Ability to pass background checks and complete required fingerprinting
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
Responsibilities:
- Provide instruction and behavior support for students in special education or general education classrooms
- Assist with personal care and activities of daily living as needed
- Implement individualized education plans (IEPs) under teacher guidance
- Help create a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment
- Communicate student progress and concerns to teachers and school teams
