Job Description
Support the development and growth of young learners by providing specialized assistance as a Special Education Paraprofessional focused on pre-kindergarten to 4th grade students. This full-time, Monday through Friday position is based in Houston, TX, serving a small caseload of five students, primarily Pre-K 3 and Pre-K 4, with a focus on autistic and nonverbal children.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement individualized support plans to assist students with autism and other special needs.
- Utilize behavior intervention strategies and de-escalation techniques to create a safe and productive learning environment.
- Aid students with personal hygiene and essential life skills development.
- Collaborate closely with teachers, therapists, and families to meet each students unique educational and developmental goals.
- Monitor progress and provide feedback to support continuous improvement.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Proven experience working with autistic and nonverbal students.
- Familiarity with behavior intervention programs and de-escalation techniques.
- Ability to support personal hygiene and life skills development in young children.
- Credential or certification related to special education paraprofessional roles is preferred.
- Strong patience, empathy, and communication skills.
