Looking for an engaging contract opportunity supporting students in a dynamic educational environment near Harvey, LA? This full-time role offers a chance to make a real difference working with lower teacher-to-pupil ratio classes, providing vital assistance to students with various communication needs and behavioral challenges, including Autism and related disabilities. The assignment follows the school calendar, with immediate start available through late May 2027.
Desired Qualifications:
- Associates Degree, ParaPro assessment score of at least 450, or 48 semester credit hours (district requirements are mandatory)
- Demonstrated classroom experience
- Strong understanding of IEPs and best practices supporting students with Autism or similar disabilities
- CPI training, de-escalation techniques, significant behavioral intervention experience, and CPR certification are preferred but not required
- Ability to work patiently and skillfully with students exhibiting complex behaviors
- Willingness to complete required district drug testing, fingerprinting, and background check
Role Responsibilities:
- Provide direct classroom support and reinforcement under teacher direction
- Assist in implementing IEPs and behavior plans
- Promote positive peer interactions and de-escalate challenging situations
- Document progress and maintain clear communication with the educational team
- Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and ongoing professional development as needed
