Step into a rewarding opportunity supporting a vibrant young student in an elementary school setting! Were looking for a compassionate professional fluent in American Sign Language to work 1:1 with a first-grade student, fostering an inclusive and engaging learning environment each day.
This role is based at a single elementary school and is scheduled for 6 hours per day, Monday through Friday, aligning with the schools calendar and offering a consistent routine. The contract runs from your earliest availability through June 4, 2026.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Demonstrated fluency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Previous experience as a paraprofessional or sign language interpreter, preferably in an elementary or school setting
- Ability to build rapport with young children and support their unique learning needs
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach with educators and support staff
- High degree of professionalism, reliability, and empathy
Key Responsibilities:
- Work directly with a first-grade male student, facilitating communication and participation throughout the school day
- Support classroom activities and help bridge the gap between instruction and student understanding
- Collaborate with teachers and school staff to implement individualized support strategies
- Adapt materials and instructions into ASL as needed
- Attend to the students social and emotional well-being while ensuring access to learning opportunities
