Make a difference in a students life as a full-time paraprofessional supporting a 3rd-grade classroom in a behavioral setting. This contract opportunity is located onsite near Elmira, NY, in the Bath area. Gain valuable school-based experience while providing meaningful one-on-one support to a young learner with emotional/behavioral needs.
What we're seeking:
- Experience working in behavioral classroom settings is essential
- Previous school-based paraprofessional or teachers aide background strongly preferred
- Compassion, patience, and commitment to supporting student growth
- Comfort and ability to effectively work 1:1 with elementary-aged children
- Strong communication and teamwork skills for collaboration with teachers and specialists
- Adaptability and initiative to manage challenging classroom moments
Key responsibilities:
- Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a 3rd grade student in an ED (Emotional Disturbance) classroom
- Assist with classroom participation, daily routines, and behavioral interventions
- Support academic learning, social skills development, and emotional regulation strategies
- Implement individualized goals and behavior management plans as directed by the classroom teacher
- Collaborate with educators and school staff to ensure a positive, supportive learning environment
- Document student progress and promptly share key observations when needed
