Job Description
Make an impact in education and help support students daily success by working as a Paraprofessional in a local school setting near Elizabeth, NJ. This contract position is perfect for individuals passionate about working directly with children and assisting teachers in creating a positive, inclusive learning environment.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Previous experience as a paraprofessional or working with students in a school environment is preferred
- Ability to follow guidance from instructional staff and adapt to varying classroom routines
- Understanding of and sensitivity to the needs of students with diverse backgrounds and learning styles
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effectively collaborating with students, teachers, and other staff
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associates degree or higher is a plus
Primary Responsibilities:
- Assist classroom teachers in providing instructional and behavioral support to students
- Work one-on-one or with small groups to reinforce lessons, accommodate learning differences, and ensure every student is engaged
- Help implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) when appropriate
- Supervise students in various settings, including during classroom activities, lunch, recess, or transitions
- Support a safe and positive classroom environment
- Provide classroom organization assistance, such as preparing instructional materials or setting up learning stations
