Job Description

Provide essential support to students with autism in a K-12 educational setting, fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment. This paraprofessional role involves collaboration with teachers and staff to assist students in achieving their academic and social goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students with autism by implementing individualized strategies and behavioral interventions.
  • Assist in classroom activities, helping students stay engaged and on task.
  • Collaborate with special education teachers and other staff members to adapt lesson plans and materials.
  • Monitor and document student progress and behaviors to inform instructional adjustments.
  • Foster positive relationships with students to encourage social interaction and development.
  • Maintain a safe, structured, and nurturing classroom environment.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Experience working with children on the autism spectrum, ideally within a school environment.
  • Understanding of special education practices and behavioral support techniques.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Patience, empathy, and dedication to supporting students growth and development.
  • Ability to follow established schedules and routines with consistency.

Location and Schedule:

  • Position based in Edwards, CO, serving Berry Creek Middle School and Eagle Valley High School.
  • Work schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., totaling 35 hours per week.
  • Contract position for the current school year.
