Job Description

This position offers an opportunity to provide specialized support to students with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) across K-12 settings in Carbon and Lehigh County, PA. Autism Support Interventionists work closely with educators, therapists, and special education staff to promote academic success and social-emotional development in both inclusive and specialized classrooms.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver one-on-one and small group assistance to students with autism.
  • Implement behavior intervention plans (BIPs) under supervision and follow evidence-based strategies such as ABA, PECS, visual schedules, and social stories.
  • Monitor and document student behavior, IEP goal progress, and instructional methods.
  • Support students during daily routines, transitions, sensory breaks, and personal care needs as required.
  • Maintain a safe, structured learning environment and collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams to ensure consistency in interventions.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Education, Psychology, ABA, Social Behavior, or closely related field preferred; candidates with an Associates degree and at least one year of experience supporting students with autism or behavioral needs will also be considered.
  • Strong knowledge of autism spectrum disorders and behavioral intervention techniques.
  • Ability to remain calm and respond appropriately during challenging behaviors, including elopement or aggression.
  • Basic computer proficiency for record-keeping and communication.
  • Dependable, team-focused, and able to maintain professional boundaries in complex situations.

Work Details:

  • Location: Various sites in Carbon and Lehigh County, PA.
  • Schedule: Approximately 32.5 to 35 hours per week.
  • Duration: Current school year contract ending June 12, 2026 (tentative, following school calendar).
  • Start Date: As soon as possible.

Candidates must provide one completed role supervisor reference check to be considered.
