Job Description

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Previous experience working with children or adolescents in an educational, childcare, or tutoring setting is highly desirable
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; some college coursework or associates degree preferred
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Patience, adaptability, and strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, staff, and students
  • Understanding of confidentiality and professionalism in school environments
  • Ability to follow directions and provide support for a diverse student population, including those with special needs

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist classroom teachers with daily instruction and activities
  • Provide one-on-one or small group support to students who need extra assistance
  • Help with classroom management, organization, and preparation of learning materials
  • Supervise students during transitions, lunch, recess, and field trips
  • Collaborate with staff to implement individualized education plans (IEPs) or 504 plans as directed
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and encouraging classroom atmosphere
  • Observe student progress and communicate concerns to teachers or educational staff
