Step into a rewarding summer opportunity supporting students as a dedicated Paraprofessional or Teacher Assistant! This contract position is available within the Elmira, NY area, serving various Eastern host sites from July 6, 2026, through August 14, 2026. Working Monday through Friday from 8 am to 2 pm, youll be the guiding hand for students in a 1:1 settingmaking a true difference during their summer school experience. Expect approximately 27.5 hours per week, perfect for those seeking a balanced summer schedule.
Desired Skills & Qualifications
- Previous 1:1 experience with students in a school setting is highly preferred
- Active New York State License/Certificate for Teacher Assistants required for assistant roles
- Certification may be required for aide roles; demonstrated 1:1 experience is strongly valued
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Reliability, patience, and a passion for supporting student growth
- Ability to collaborate with teaching staff and adapt to individual student needs
Key Responsibilities
- Provide individualized academic and behavioral support to students in the summer program
- Assist lead teachers with lesson preparation and classroom activities
- Help maintain a positive, inclusive, and engaging learning atmosphere
- Adapt strategies to meet the diverse needs of assigned students
- Track and report on student progress to instructional staff
- Support personal care or mobility requirements as needed
