Job Description
Embark on a fulfilling contract opportunity as an Instructional Assistant, supporting students with orthopedic impairments throughout the academic year. Youll work closely with a dedicated OI Specialist, helping students navigate their educational environment using wheelchairs, walkers, and other mobility devices. This fully onsite, itinerant position offers a chance to make a meaningful impact while utilizing and expanding your administrative and hands-on experience in a school setting.
Qualifications:
- CPI Certification (required)
- Experience with assistive technology and mobility device training (required)
- CNA/medical training (preferred)
- Previous experience in California schools (preferred)
- Strong administrative skills
- Bilingual Spanish (required)
Key Responsibilities:
- Support OI Specialist in monitoring students safety and progress with mobility equipment
- Assist in the setup, usage, and training of walkers, wheelchairs, and related devices
- Provide hands-on help for students as they move between classrooms and activities
- Collaborate with staff and administration to track student needs and equipment usage
- Help maintain, troubleshoot, and organize equipment as directed
- Keep detailed records and support administrative procedures
- Serve as a resource for staff, students, and families regarding proper equipment use
Position Details:
- Onsite, full-time role: 40 hours per week
- School-based schedule spanning the academic year, from 8/21/25 to 6/4/26
- Itinerant role with the flexibility to support multiple school locations as needed
