Job Description

A rewarding opportunity awaits a compassionate and dedicated Paraprofessional to provide one-on-one support for a student with emotional disabilities and diabetes in a specialized educational environment. This contract position begins immediately and runs for a minimum of four months, with the potential to extend up to twelve months. You'll work full time, Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 4:00pm, making a meaningful difference in a students life each day.

Your commitment will help empower a student to thrive academically and emotionally, working in a setting designed for learners who require additional support. This is an ideal role for those seeking to apply their skills in a positive and structured school atmosphere.

Desired qualifications and experience:

  • Active Illinois Paraprofessional Certification (Para cert for IL)
  • Professional Educator License (PEL) with Paraprofessional Endorsement
  • Previous experience supporting students with emotional disabilities preferred
  • Familiarity with diabetes care or willingness to learn
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities
  • Patience, empathy, and a proactive approach to student support

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide individualized attention and assistance to a student during classroom activities, transitions, and therapies
  • Help implement behavior and academic plans designed by education professionals
  • Support emotional regulation and offer encouragement as needed
  • Monitor diabetes management needs with guidance from medical staff and teachers
  • Foster positive relationships with the student, family, and school team
