Job Description

Step into a rewarding role supporting the educational journey of students in a vibrant North Chicago elementary and middle school setting. This full-time, contract position is dedicated to the 2026-2027 academic year, Monday through Friday (35 hours per week), and centers around providing individualized attention to students who benefit from additional supportincluding a child with diabetes and another needing one-on-one assistance.

In this position, your day-to-day will include collaborating with teachers, maintaining a positive learning environment, and working closely with students who display a range of behaviors. Youll provide direct support both inside and outside the classroom, assist with activities of daily living (such as toileting when needed), and help ensure every student has access to the resources they need to thrive.

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Valid Illinois Paraprofessional certification required
  • Experience supporting students with diverse and challenging behaviors, preferably in an elementary or middle school
  • Previous experience assisting with toileting and personal care tasks preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and compassionately
  • Adept at adapting to a dynamic classroom environment and responding to unique student needs

Core Responsibilities:

  • Deliver instructional and behavioral support as a classroom aide
  • Provide dedicated 1:1 assistance for assigned students
  • Facilitate engagement during classroom activities and small group sessions
  • Offer support with toileting for students with personal care needs
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to enhance students educational experiences
