In this vital role, you will be a key advocate for student success, bridging communication and providing hands-on assistance to learners who rely on ASL for their education. Your fluency in ASL and commitment to student growth will help empower young people to thrive socially and academically.
What you'll need to succeed:
- Full fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) is required
- High school diploma at minimum; must provide a transcript if hired (college transcripts accepted)
- Completion of prior paraprofessional/school-based experience, especially with middle or high school students
- Passion for supporting students of varying abilities with patience and professionalism
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with teachers, students, and staff
Your daily contributions will include:
- Facilitating communication and classroom participation for students using ASL
- Collaborating with teachers to implement instructional plans and behavior supports
- Providing one-on-one or small group support in academic and social settings
- Assisting with adaptations or modifications as outlined in student plans
- Supporting a positive, inclusive environment to foster student independence
