Job Description

Providing specialized emotional and behavioral support in an educational setting, this role focuses on assisting K-12 students with emotional challenges in a structured classroom environment. The position involves direct one-on-one or small group interventions designed to enhance students social-emotional learning and behavioral regulation within an enhanced emotional support program located in Carbon County, PA. This is a contract opportunity aligned with the current school year schedule, running tentatively through June 12, 2026.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver individualized and small group support to students experiencing emotional or behavioral difficulties.
  • Implement and reinforce Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) crafted by behavior specialists or the special education team.
  • Aid students in managing emotions, behavior regulation, conflict resolution, and social skills development.
  • Collect and document behavioral data and the effectiveness of interventions.
  • Support students during transitions, sensory breaks, and use de-escalation strategies as necessary.
  • Maintain a safe and structured environment following crisis intervention protocols.
  • Collaborate closely with classroom teachers, counselors, and related service professionals.
  • Assist with academic participation and personal care needs as appropriate.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Juvenile Justice, Social Behavior, or a related field preferred; consideration given for Associates degree plus at least one year of relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in emotional support or behavior-focused educational settings is highly valued.
  • Solid knowledge of emotional and behavioral disorders, including anxiety, oppositional behaviors, and trauma-related conditions.
  • Proficiency in de-escalation techniques, positive behavior reinforcement, and maintaining professional boundaries.
  • Ability to stay composed during stressful or crisis situations.
  • Basic computer skills necessary for data entry and communication.
  • Must submit one completed supervisor reference check specific to emotional support roles.

Location: Carbon County, PA
Schedule: Approximately 32.535 hours per week, following the school calendar.
