Job Description

An opportunity is available for Autism Support Interventionists to provide specialized support to students with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) within K-12 educational settings in Carbon and Lehigh County, PA. This hands-on role requires close collaboration with educators, therapists, and special education staff to help students reach their academic, behavioral, and social-emotional goals.

Location: Carbon & Lehigh County, Pennsylvania
Duration: Contract from ASAP to June 12, 2026 (tentative, aligned with school calendar)
Hours: Approximately 32.5 to 35 hours per week
Settings: Specialized and inclusive classrooms, including potential sites such as Enhanced Autism programs and elementary schools within the counties.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver one-on-one or small group support tailored to students with autism.
  • Implement behavior intervention plans (BIPs) under guidance from teachers and behavior specialists.
  • Collect and document data related to student behavior, IEP progress, and instructional approaches.
  • Support students during daily routines, transitions, and sensory breaks to foster engagement.
  • Apply evidence-based methods such as ABA, PECS, visual schedules, and social stories.
  • Maintain a safe, structured, and supportive classroom environment conducive to learning.
  • Collaborate effectively with educational and therapeutic teams to ensure consistency in care.
  • Assist students with personal care activities when necessary, including toileting, hygiene, and feeding.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Education, Psychology, ABA, Social Behavior, or related field preferred.
  • Candidates with an Associates degree and a minimum of one year (preferably three years) of experience working with students with autism or behavioral needs will be considered.
  • Strong knowledge of autism spectrum disorders and behavioral intervention strategies.
  • Ability to remain calm and respond effectively during behavioral incidents or emergencies.
  • Basic computer proficiency for documentation and communication purposes.
  • Reliability, teamwork skills, and professionalism in challenging situations are essential.
  • Submission must include one completed role supervisor reference check.
