Embark on a rewarding contract opportunity as a Paraprofessional supporting students in dynamic school environments near Berkeley, CA this summer. Make a difference across Pre-K, elementary, middle, and high school settings as you provide essential support to students with various needsincluding those requiring specialized health care procedures or communication supports.
Ideal candidates for these roles are passionate about inclusive education and are highly adaptable, flexible, and committed to a team-centered approach. Paraprofessionals are placed where needs arise and must be prepared for a variety of assignments, including personal care (toileting, diapering, feeding, g-tube care). A willingness to fully engage in all aspects of student support, regardless of preference, is essential.
Qualifications:
- One of the following: Associate's degree or higher; OR 48+ college units and a high school diploma; OR passing CBEST and a high school diploma; OR passing the instructional aide exam and a high school diploma
- Specialized credentials are a plus: CPR/First Aid certification, emergency anti-seizure medication training, health care procedure certifications, sign language fluency, or Braille knowledge
- Experience with students exhibiting significant social-emotional, behavioral, or health needs is valued
- Able to stand for extended periods (some roles)
- Team player mindset and willingness to serve wherever needed
Responsibilities:
- Support instructional and personal care needs across different school levels and programs
- Assist students with disabilities and adapt to varying daily assignments
- Implement individualized support per physician or IEP guidelines
- Ensure student safety and well-being at all times
- Collaborate closely with teachers, therapists, and school staff
Summer Session Schedules:
- Opportunities available for Pre-K through County Programs, ranging June 15 July 17, with varying start/end times
