Job Description

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience as a paraprofessional or classroom assistant strongly preferred
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students, teachers, and staff
  • Proficient in fostering a patient, compassionate, and inclusive learning environment
  • Understanding of K-12 educational settings and student behavior management
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; some college or related certifications are a plus
  • Flexible, adaptable, and committed to collaborating with multidisciplinary teams

Responsibilities:

  • Support classroom instruction by working with individual students or small groups, reinforcing lesson objectives
  • Assist teachers with organizing instructional materials and classroom activities
  • Provide positive behavioral support and help implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
  • Supervise students during transitions, recess, meals, and school outings
  • Foster students independence and social skills through encouragement and guidance
  • Maintain a safe and respectful environment, reporting concerns as needed to supervisory staff
