Job Description

Empower students to thrive in their educational journey by providing meaningful support as a paraprofessional. This contract opportunity offers placements in school-age and early intervention settings throughout Lehigh County, PA, for the 2026/2027 academic year, with openings available immediately through June 2027. Assignments are determined by district needs, including functional and behavioral multiple disabilities support classrooms. Candidates must be prepared for hands-on work, including a mix of personal care and behavioral support responsibilities.

Desired Experience & Credentials:

  • Minimum of one year working as a paraprofessional, instructional assistant, or in special education
  • Must satisfy one of the Pennsylvania paraprofessional requirements: 48+ college credits, an associate degree or higher, or pass a qualifying state/local assessment
  • Ability to obtain paraprofessional certification within 60 days if not currently held (training and guidance provided)
  • Reliable transportation for daily punctual arrivals (commuting within 30-35 minutes essential)
  • Two recent supervisory references required
  • Confidence managing behavioral challenges, personal care (lifting, toileting, feeding), and supporting students with diverse needs

  • Foster a safe, nurturing school environment
  • Provide direct instructional and behavioral supports in collaboration with teachers and therapists
  • Implement individualized plans and track student progress
  • Fulfill daily personal care needs as required by student assignment
  • Remain flexible and responsive to evolving classroom placements and district demands
