Located in Carbon County, PA, this contract position provides a unique opportunity to support K-12 students in an Enhanced Emotional Support setting. The role focuses on delivering direct, intensive assistance aimed at helping students navigate their daily environments in practical and productive ways, with an emphasis on social-emotional learning tailored to each child's needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one or small group support for students facing emotional or behavioral challenges.
- Implement and reinforce behavior intervention plans (BIPs) developed by behavior specialists or special education teams.
- Assist students in managing emotions, behavior regulation, conflict resolution, and social interactions.
- Collect and document behavioral data as directed by teachers or the behavior team.
- Support students during transitions, sensory breaks, and use de-escalation techniques when necessary.
- Maintain a structured, supportive environment and follow crisis intervention protocols.
- Collaborate closely with teachers, school counselors, and related service staff.
- Aid students with academic tasks and classroom participation.
- Provide assistance with personal care needs, including toileting and hygiene, if applicable.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelors degree in Juvenile Justice, Social Behavior, or a related field is preferred; Associates degree with at least one year (preferably three) of relevant experience will be considered.
- Experience in emotional support, therapeutic, or behavior-based classroom settings is strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of emotional and behavioral disorders such as anxiety, oppositional behaviors, and trauma-related issues.
- Skilled in de-escalation techniques, positive behavior reinforcement, and building supportive relationships.
- Ability to remain calm during high-stress or crisis situations and maintain professional boundaries.
- Basic computer skills for data entry and communication.
- Must include one completed emotional support role supervisor reference check upon application.
Work Schedule and Location:
- Position begins ASAP and runs tentatively through June 12, 2026, aligned with the school calendar.
- Part-time schedule offering 32.5 to 35 hours per week.
- Worksite located within Carbon County, Pennsylvania.
