Successful candidates will utilize their expertise as a school-based OT to help students achieve their fullest potential, both academically and functionally. The role involves working closely with students, teachers, and support staff, providing assessments, developing treatment plans, and implementing interventions tailored to individual student needs within the school environment.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Valid Occupational Therapist license in Michigan
- Previous experience in a school setting preferred
- Knowledge of IEP process and ability to collaborate in team meetings
- Strong communication skills for working with students, faculty, and families
- Ability to manage a diverse caseload with flexibility and creativity
- Experience creating and adapting therapeutic activities for the educational environment
Primary Responsibilities:
- Evaluate student needs and develop individualized therapy goals
- Provide direct occupational therapy services according to student IEPs
- Collaborate with educators to integrate therapy strategies in the classroom
- Document student progress and communicate updates with families and staff
- Consult with teachers and staff to support student accessibility and participation
- Adapt equipment or materials to enhance student engagement and independence
