Job Description
This full-time occupational therapy position supports students in an educational environment, primarily serving an elementary school population with some middle and high school students. Located in Portales, NM, the role requires in-person attendance for a 37.5-hour workweek, providing direct therapy services and support to approximately 30 students on the caseload.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver occupational therapy services tailored to individual student needs within the school setting.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and educational staff to develop and implement effective intervention plans.
- Conduct assessments, monitor student progress, and document outcomes in compliance with school policies.
- Participate in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings and contribute professional expertise.
- Advocate for students' sensory, motor, and functional needs to enhance academic participation.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Licensed Occupational Therapist with relevant credentials.
- Experience working in schools is preferred, especially with elementary-aged children.
- Strong ability to manage a caseload of approximately 30 students.
- Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
- Knowledge of educational regulations and therapy techniques suitable for school-aged children.
