Step into a rewarding contract opportunity supporting the growth and development of K-12 students as a school-based Occupational Therapist. This position offers 16 hours per week, serving both elementary and middle school students across a diverse learning environment. By collaborating with a multidisciplinary team, you'll deliver interventions and strategies vital for student success throughout the 26/17 school year.
Desired Qualifications:
- Current Illinois Occupational Therapy (OT) license
- Experience or strong interest in school-based occupational therapy or pediatric populations
- Understanding of the unique needs of K-12 students, including adapting interventions for different age ranges
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities, especially with teachers, families, and school staff
- Strong organizational skills and flexibility within a dynamic school environment
Core Responsibilities:
- Conduct assessments to identify students strengths and challenges
- Develop and implement individualized plans to support student participation in school activities
- Work directly with students in small groups or one-on-one, utilizing evidence-based strategies
- Collaborate with educators and support staff to integrate OT services into classroom settings
- Maintain documentation in accordance with school and district guidelines
- Communicate progress with teachers, families, and other service providers
- Participate in IEP meetings as needed to share insights and recommendations
