Exciting opportunity for skilled Occupational Therapists seeking a rewarding role supporting students within an engaged, supportive team. This contract position serves a smaller, collaborative district approximately 40 miles east of Albuquerque, providing valuable services to a diverse group of students in special education. The district boasts a close-knit staff, approachable director, and a strong spirit of teamwork, making it an ideal setting for both experienced and new travel professionals.
Two openings are available: a full-time Occupational Therapist for 37.5 hours per week and a part-time therapist for two days per week. The full-time role involves working across two elementary schools with manageable caseloads (19 students at one site, 15 at another), plus two high school students with increased needs. With schools in close proximity, youll find convenient access between sites, supporting seamless service provision.
Desired Qualifications:
- Valid Occupational Therapist license; eligible for New Mexico PED requirements
- Experience within school-based OT, particularly in special education settings
- Strong documentation and communication skills, able to confirm move details and PED process status
- Collaborative approach, with a passion for contributing to student growth
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive assessments and develop individualized OT plans
- Deliver direct and consultative services to elementary and high school students
- Maintain timely and thorough documentation, ensuring PED compliance
- Work closely with teachers, SPED staff, and families to support student goals
