Step into a unique opportunity to make a real impact as an Occupational Therapist during Extended School Year (ESY) services in the vibrant Metro Detroit area. This contract position is perfect for a dedicated, credentialed OT eager to support students growth and independence throughout the summer session. Serving a south, down-river Detroit community, youll work closely with district staff and students in a dynamic school environment.
This ESY assignment runs from July 7th through August 6th, offering a concentrated schedule that respects your work-life balance: Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 8:00 a.m. to noon. Youll be providing itinerant services at different school sites, ensuring that each student receives personalized care and support based on their individual education plans.
Desired Qualifications:
- Current OT licensure and credentialing, with experience in school settings
- Background in school, home health, and healthcare occupational therapy
- Familiarity with IEP documentation and student goal planning
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to work with educators and families
- Prior ESY or pediatric experience highly valued
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver school-based OT interventions aligned with IEP goals during ESY
- Travel to assigned schools to support caseload as student registration is finalized
- Collaborate with teachers, aides, and parents for optimal student outcomes
- Thoroughly document interventions and progress using the districts IEP system (training provided)
- Attend and contribute to team meetings as needed
