Job Description

Qualifications:

  • Active Ohio Orientation & Mobility Specialist certification (OH O&M Specialist certification is required)
  • Proven experience as an O&M Specialist, preferably within educational settings
  • Strong communication skills for collaborating with students, staff, and families
  • Ability to adapt approaches for various age groups and individual needs
  • Travel-ready within the district, as assignments may vary by building

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of students mobility needs and create customized instructional plans
  • Teach techniques for safe, effective travel in school, campus, and community settings
  • Consult with educational teams to develop and integrate mobility goals into students' individualized education programs (IEPs)
  • Maintain detailed progress records and communicate updates with stakeholders
  • Support transitions and promote self-advocacy by providing hands-on, practical mobility training

Role Details:

  • Approximately 10 hours per week, with flexibility to align with student schedulesfinal arrangements to be discussed during interviews
  • Assignments may involve working in multiple buildings, serving a diverse caseload, and tailoring support to a wide range of ages
  • Contract position aligned with the typical academic calendar, from August 11, 2026 to May 21, 2027
  • Interviews will be conducted virtually for your convenience
