Exciting opportunity available for a certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist interested in making a positive impact across multiple schools. This contract position will allow you to work in a supportive and welcoming environment, serving K-12 students and collaborating with dedicated staff.
Youll be working in a district-wide capacity, empowering students with visual impairments to achieve greater independence and confidence in their school environments. Qualifications and Experience:
- Current Virginia Orientation and Mobility Specialist certification required
- Experience supporting students across various age groups, preferably in K-12 educational settings
- Ability to adapt strategies to diverse learning environments and individual student needs
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational abilities
- Passion for fostering independence in students with visual impairments
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide orientation and mobility instruction to students across multiple school sites within the district
- Develop individualized instructional plans based on student assessments and educational goals
- Collaborate with educators, families, and other specialists to ensure comprehensive support for each student
- Maintain thorough records and monitor progress toward identified goals
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and district-wide initiatives as required
