This opportunity seeks a skilled Orientation and Mobility Specialist to support students with visual impairments at a school in Tracy, CA. Working part-time onsite 2-3 days per week during the current and upcoming school years, this role focuses on empowering students through specialized training that enhances spatial awareness, sensory techniques, and mobility skills for those who are blind or have low vision.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized orientation and mobility instruction tailored to each student's unique needs.
- Assist students in developing spatial awareness and safe navigation skills in various environments.
- Employ sensory techniques to promote independence and confidence.
- Collaborate with educators and families to implement effective strategies that support student success.
- Maintain accurate documentation and progress reports for each student.
Qualifications:
- Valid Orientation and Mobility Certification for the state of California is required.
- Experience working with children who have visual impairments is strongly preferred.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Excellent communication skills to interact with students, families, and staff.
Location: Onsite at a school in Tracy, CA.
