Key Qualifications:

• Certification as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS)
• Prior experience working with children or adolescents in a school or educational setting
• Strong understanding of orientation and mobility techniques, assessments, and instructional strategies
• Ability to develop and adapt individualized education plans (IEPs) to meet student needs
• Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with students, families, and school teams
• Compassionate, patient, and adaptable to varying student abilities and learning styles

Your Responsibilities:

• Conduct comprehensive orientation and mobility assessments for students with visual impairments
• Deliver direct instruction in cane skills, safe travel techniques, and spatial concepts tailored to individual IEP goals
• Collaborate closely with classroom teachers, special education teams, and families to ensure integrated support
• Track student progress, maintain detailed documentation, and contribute to IEP meetings
• Provide consultative services to staff regarding accessibility and best practices in supporting visually impaired students
