Step into an impactful opportunity supporting K12 students as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist. This contract position offers a chance to help students achieve independence and confidence in their daily navigation, providing essential compensatory and direct therapeutic services across the Oviedo and Sanford areas. The assignment is set for the 20262027 school year, beginning in August and ending in late May. With a consistent schedule of 37.5 hours per week, youll have the opportunity to make meaningful connections with students and school staff, while your expertise provides crucial support throughout the academic year.
Key Qualifications:
- National Orientation & Mobility (O&M) Licensure is required
- Vision certification specific to O&M
- Valid drivers license
- Physical copy of professional license
- Social security card
- Must complete required fingerprinting and background checks, including Form 1403 and Field Print location receipt
- Completion of I9 (sections 1 and 2) and demographic form
- Prior experience in K12 settings preferred
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach
Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct orientation and mobility therapy services to students in grades K12
- Conduct compensatory services and, when needed, evaluations
- Primarily focus on hands-on instructional sessions supporting students travel safety, independence, and confidence
- Maintain required documentation in line with district guidelines
- Communicate regularly with school staff, parents, and multidisciplinary teams
