Qualifications & Experience:

  • Active Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) Certification required
  • Prior experience working with K-12 students preferred
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong commitment to fostering the independence and confidence of young learners
  • Ability to adapt strategies and equipment to meet diverse student needs

Role Overview:

  • Provide direct Orientation and Mobility (O&M) instruction to students ages Kindergarten through high school
  • Design and implement individualized teaching plans that promote safe, independent movement in a variety of settingsincluding classrooms, school campuses, and community environments
  • Assess student abilities, develop appropriate goals, and collaborate with school staff and families to integrate O&M training into daily routines
  • Monitor and document student progress, adjusting methods as needed to maximize success
  • Deliver services a few hours per month, with sessions typically held one day each week
