Key Qualifications:
- Current Orientation and Mobility (O&M) Specialist license for Massachusetts
- Proven professional experience working in school environments with diverse student populations
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with educators and families
- Hands-on experience designing and adapting orientation and mobility plans for students with varied needs
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instruction in orientation and mobility to K-12 students, promoting independent navigation and safety skills
- Assess individual student abilities and develop customized learning plans
- Consult and coordinate with teachers, support staff, and families to integrate O&M strategies into students educational programs
- Maintain accurate records, track student progress, and participate in meetings and IEP planning
- Advocate for necessary adaptations and technologies to enhance students engagement and achievement
