Make a positive impact by supporting students with visual impairments as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist on a flexible contract assignment. This role offers the unique opportunity to deliver essential services outside traditional school settingssessions will be held at a library or alternative community environments near Providence, RI. Youll work with a manageable caseload, providing direct support and skill-building for one day each week, totaling seven hours.

Key Qualifications:

• Valid Orientation and Mobility (O&M) license required
• Expertise in Orientation and Mobility techniques for school-age students
• Experience working with students who are visually impaired or blind and ready to foster their independence
• Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with students, families, and community partners
• Ability to adapt services to non-school settings, ensuring student safety and learning

Primary Responsibilities:

• Conduct individualized assessments and deliver orientation and mobility instruction for students, tailored to their specific goals and IEP requirements
• Develop and implement instructional strategies to promote independence, safe navigation, and confidence in diverse settings
• Collaborate with families, caregivers, and support teams to monitor student progress and address needs
• Complete related documentation and reports as required
• Serve as a professional resource on orientation and mobility best practices
