Based in the Portsmouth, VA area, this contract assignment is onsite, offering a varied and engaging caseload across an entire district for the 2026-2027 school year.
Key Qualifications and Experience:
- Must hold a valid Virginia Orientation & Mobility (O&M) Certification
- Proven experience working as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist, ideally within school environments
- Expertise supporting students from kindergarten through high school
- Ability to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team and communicate effectively with families and staff
- Strong organizational skills for managing a district-wide caseload
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide individualized and group orientation and mobility instruction to students with visual impairments across multiple schools
- Assess student needs and develop goal-oriented, effective mobility programs
- Collaborate with educators, family members, and other service providers to support each students IEP goals
- Travel between assigned schools as needed to deliver services onsite
- Maintain detailed documentation of student progress and communicate updates with the educational team
