Bring your expertise as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist to a rewarding contract role serving students with visual impairments in the greater Savannah, GA area. This onsite opportunity covers a full school year, where you will support students from 2nd grade through high school as they navigate multiple educational environments and develop vital independence skills.

Key Qualifications:

• Active Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist (COMS) status via AVCREP required
• Valid Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GaPSC) teaching certification
• Prior experience providing orientation and mobility services to children or adolescents with visual impairments, preferably in a school setting
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage a caseload across various locations
• Compassion, adaptability, and excellent communication skills for collaborating with students, families, and school teams

Primary Responsibilities:

• Deliver individualized O&M instruction to students based on their IEP goals at multiple school sites
• Assess and document student progress, updating plans as needed to support growth in travel skills and safety awareness
• Develop flexible schedules that accommodate both your workflow and students academic commitments
• Consult with teachers, IEP teams, and families to promote the safe and effective integration of orientation and mobility techniques into the school environment
• Maintain accurate records in compliance with district and state requirements
