Job Description

A full-time Orientation and Mobility Specialist is needed to support K-12 students with visual impairments in a dynamic school environment. This contract role is based onsite in Overland Park, KS, offering an excellent opportunity to make a meaningful impact throughout the school year.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct assessments to determine the mobility and orientation needs of students with visual impairments.
  • Develop individualized instruction plans to enhance students ability to navigate safely and independently.
  • Collaborate with educators and families to integrate mobility goals into the overall educational experience.
  • Utilize specialized techniques and equipment to teach skills for travel in school and community settings.
  • Maintain accurate records and provide progress reports on student development.

Qualifications:

  • Certified Orientation & Mobility Specialist credential.
  • Valid Kansas licensure or certification relevant to orientation and mobility services.
  • Experience working with K-12 students with visual impairments.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with students, parents, and school staff.
  • Ability to manage a full caseload and adapt instruction to individual student needs.
