Key Requirements:
- Certification as a Orientation & Mobility Specialist (O&M) in the state of Virginia
- Experience working with K-12 students with visual impairments, ideally in educational settings
- Strong collaboration and communication skills to partner effectively with staff, students, and families
- Ability to travel between schools within the district as needed
- Commitment to creating supportive learning environments for all students
Core Responsibilities:
- Assess student needs and develop individualized orientation and mobility training plans
- Teach students safe and effective navigation in a variety of school and community environments
- Collaborate with educators and support staff to maximize accessibility and inclusion
- Participate in IEP meetings, documentation, and ongoing student progress reviews
- Serve as a resource for staff and families regarding orientation and mobility best practices
