Job Description
A full-time Orientation and Mobility Specialist position is available in Naperville, IL, at a year-round school serving K-12 students. This permanent contract role offers the opportunity to work Monday through Friday, supporting students with visual impairments by providing specialized orientation and mobility instruction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess and develop individualized orientation and mobility plans for students across all grade levels (K-12)
- Teach skills to promote safe and independent travel in school and community settings
- Collaborate with educators, families, and other professionals to support students learning and mobility goals
- Conduct ongoing evaluations and adapt strategies to meet student needs
- Maintain detailed records and documentation in compliance with school policies
Qualifications:
- Masters Degree in Orientation and Mobility required
- Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) credentials preferred
- Experience working with K-12 students with visual impairments
- Strong knowledge of mobility aids, assistive technology, and instructional techniques
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Location and Schedule:
- Position located in Naperville, Illinois
- Full-time, Monday through Friday
- Year-round school calendar
Compensation:
- Salary range: $90,000 - $105,000
