Job Description

Embark on a rewarding contract opportunity as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist serving K-12 students across various ages, from September 1, 2026, through June 14, 2027. This full-time position offers the chance to make a significant impact, supporting students in developing essential orientation and mobility skills. Based near Methuen with a focus on Andover, youll work closely with learners, educators, and families in a collaborative environment.

Key Qualifications:

  • Active certification as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS)
  • Experience working with K-12 students, preferably in a school-based setting
  • Solid understanding of orientation and mobility instruction strategies for visually impaired students
  • Strong communication and collaboration abilities
  • Commitment to fostering independence and safety in diverse learning environments

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assess students orientation and mobility needs and develop individualized service plans
  • Deliver direct instruction to students across grade levels in one-on-one and small group settings
  • Collaborate with special education teams, teachers, and family members to integrate O&M strategies
  • Monitor and document student progress, adjusting plans as needed for optimal growth
  • Educate staff and families on orientation and mobility techniques and resources
  • Uphold safety standards at all times and maintain compliance with school and state regulations

The position offers a consistent Monday through Friday schedule, 8:15 AM 3:15 PM, totaling 32.5 hours per week for the full academic year. This is an excellent opportunity to build valuable relationships and contribute to students growth and independence in a supportive educational environment.
