A full-time Opportunity for an Orientation and Mobility Specialist is available to support multiple school districts in Washington County, PA. This role is essential in providing direct support to K-12 students with visual impairments, focusing on orientation and mobility to enhance their independence and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction and training in orientation and mobility skills for students with visual impairments.
- Assess student needs and develop individualized mobility plans in collaboration with educational teams.
- Travel between multiple school sites within Washington County to provide onsite services, with some flexibility for virtual support based on district preferences.
- Maintain accurate records, progress reports, and documentation in compliance with educational standards.
- Collaborate with Teachers of the Visually Impaired (TVIs), families, and other professionals to ensure comprehensive student support.
Qualifications:
- Active Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) educator certification is required.
- Proven experience as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist with knowledge of mobility training techniques.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Comfortable and reliable in traveling between districts for onsite service delivery.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team.
Location and Schedule:
- Position based in Washington County, PA, with onsite work preferred.
- Full-time, 37.5 hours per week.
- Contract position through 6/16/2026.
