Key Qualifications:

• Current NMPED certification as a Mobility Trainer for the Blind.
• Experience or strong interest in working as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist within school settings.
• Comfortable providing direct services to a diverse K-12 caseload.
• Excellent communication skills for building positive relationships with students, families, and staff.
• Compassionate, patient, and committed to promoting student independence and safety.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver direct Orientation and Mobility instruction tailored to students' individual needs.
• Assess student mobility abilities and create personalized instructional plans.
• Collaborate closely with special education teams, teachers, and families to integrate mobility goals into broader learning objectives.
• Monitor student progress, adjust techniques as needed, and maintain detailed records.
• Educate staff and peers on best practices for supporting blind or visually impaired students in various school environments.
